My Productive Day: Photoblog Part II

After the must-take photo of Kinokuniya at pretty much the Sydney version of the "Ginza Crossing"...

I went seeking Maruyu. My favourite place to buy Japanese food. They have good prices and nice exclusive Japanese items. The stairs going up lead to Benriya which used to be a second hand shop but now sells Japanese cosmetics and such goods.

Nearly opposite Maruyu I noticed a Japanese restaurant "Sakuratei". The minimalist presentation of its sign immediately attracted my attention and I took a few photos as a reminder that this should be the next restaurant to review.

Because buses were rushing along this road, I could not give the camera enough time to engage in auto-focus. As a result the sign is a bit washed out.

A shot of the interior: looks nice and traditional and warm!

A quick passing-by shot of Asuka restaurant, which I reviewed in one of the earlier posts.

Towards Darling Harbour, I noticed the sunset peeking through the Grand Mercure building. Because I was taking a shot toward the source of light, the camera's automatic functions had trouble calculating the proper exposure to use. The sky is washed out.

Wonderful, with the sunllight streaming through the gap in the building.

Walking alone the winding walkway toward King St. Wharf, I did a typical office-building shot, with the buildings in salute to the setting sun.

Lime Street, paralleling the waterfront of King St. Wharf, is still developing. It is lined with restaurants and various funky shops, and is fairly quiet. I expect this to change however, because Wild Life Park just opened at the end of the street. For screaming kiddies to fill this haven of solitude...I can't bear it...

View of the waterside from Lime Street: a lighthouse I never noticed before, framed by two trees.

Hondarake, the second-hand Japanese bookstore from which one might dig some good gems. However, they ripped me off when I tried to sell them my old magazines...so only go there to buy stuff, not sell.

The promenade of King Street Wharf: on the one side, water and ferry boats, and on the other, bars and restaurants galore. Gets rather crowded toward the evening.

A typical high-end kinda bar with multiple levels and warm lights. I feel like going in there and going to sleep, even though I don't drink.

Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without the redux of the HDR. So here it is.

Amazingly, the second picture looks like the building is on fire (at least from the thumbnail). I won't bother uploading the original exposures for bandwidth reasons, but the colours are crazy here. Wheee psychedelic shiny!
